What is design?
By design I mean design and creation of the consulting process.
The diagnosis provides the desired result (or a vision of it in any
case) and the preconditions for the nature of the methodology and
for the setup of the consulting process (time, money).
The design of a consulting project is developed gradually in an
“ongoing intake discussion”, an interaction between the direction of
the consultant and the client
Methodological
reasoning
Methodological reasoning is viewing issues according to a particular
system, which makes it clear which steps to take and why. The method
I employ is that of the logic of Feeling in Organizations,
discipline, and communication. This is a method that enables us to
talk about the existing working methodology and models of reality
Organise communication platforms
In his book Sensemaking in Organizations, WEICK gives numerous tips
and points for attention to promote making new senses. Powerful
sensemakers are comments like: do you remember……, that makes me
think about….. In his book “Co-creatie van verandering” [Co-creating
change], WIERDSMA gives criteria for setting up conversation
platforms. Design often features the following components:

Some other criteria that follow from my logic:

The setting creates and determines behaviour. This also applies
to the organisation structures. The question here is: does the
setting offer possibilities for communication and for
self-steering or are rules/structures (social system) or power
(natural system) leading.

A surprising contribution often has the greatest effect

The question of how much needs to be “designed” is important.
How much room is needed for improvisation?

Message and form should match up.

The product must radiate integrity, passion, involvement, and
balance (product quality).

Can the parties involved have their own contribution (relational
quality)?
Methods can force people in one direction via the structure of the
language (DE ZEEUW). Instead of this, you can seek out a language
with which you can say what you want and explore several directions. |
