Introduction to the workbook

The Logic of Will in Organizations offers a way of viewing methodologies. In what way does a methodology contribute to the development of capacities for the organisation? From this logic, my working methodology is geared towards:

  • identifying models of reality and making them more conscious
  • organising communication about the models of reality
  • new models of reality help development
  • helping adapt existing structures, procedure, and rules

In order to bring models of reality into view so they can be discussed, as a consultant, I have to keep my own models of reality as diverse as possible. My models come from biology, environmental science, environmental law, education, organisational science, Tai Chi, softball, philosophy, music (piano, singing), internet poker, and motherhood. Maintenance and expansion are conditions for further professional development. See also the page professionalisation.

The principles of Feeling in Organizations, discipline, and communication apply to the implementation of the consulting project:

  • will to bring something surprising
  • discipline for working methodically and responsibly
  • communication in order to build and maintain a relationship with the people I work for

You can read more about possibilities for application in the pages on diagnosis, design, and methods.

 Organise reflection

I organise reflection for my own professional growth by:

  • keeping up on literature
  • following developments in society (newspaper, TV, Internet, etc.)
  • taking part in an intervision group with colleagues to scrutinise practical experiences
  • working on conceptual developments with colleagues from my network
  • writing articles, as a method for sharing knowledge, but also in order to develop and organise thoughts
  • keeping a journal since 2000
  • contribute to conferences
